Artemisia Gentileschi was an artist who lived in Italy in the mid-1600s. She was known for her use of color and chiaroscuro. She painted mostly portraits and biblical scenes.
Gentileschi’s style is characterized by strong emotionality and expressive intensity, which may have been influenced by her father’s interest in Caravaggio.
